Mahama ex-gratia: NDC Communication Officer dares NPP to respond to Mahama’s claims

The Wednesday, 13th September, 2022 press conference by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has been described as irrelevant as it lacks credibility and focus.

According to the Eastern Regional Communication Officer of the NDC Comrade Dalars Ampomah Williams, it is surprising to see the NPP Director of Communications, Richard Ahiagbah still at post 24 hours after the unsubstantiated presser.

He explained that former President Dramani Mahama just spoke the truth after several allegations that he (Mahama) has received about Ghc30 million as ex-gratia.

The Bono Regional Chairman of the NPP, Kwame Baffoe popularly known as Abronye DC had earlier alleged that the former President received Ghc14 million and Ghc15 million in 2013 and 2017 respectively as ex-gratia, which has generated a lot of controversial debate.

The allegations by the NPP Regional Chairman came after President Mahama pledged to ensure the NDC government in 2025 will review the payment of ex-gratia for Article 71 holders pending several calls for it to be scrapped.

Meanwhile, Comrade Dalars Ampomah was of the view the former President in an interview with TV3’s Alfred Ocansey was just been truthful about his current protocol benefits.

“Report from Controller and Accountant General Department revealed that a total amount of Ghc230,000.00 was paid to President Mahama in 2013 as against the whooping Ghc14 million cedis alleged by Abronye. The former President has however not received any money from Government since 2017 till date so Richard Ahiagbah and the NPP should note it down” the Regional Communication Officer emphasised.

He added that “What the NDC want from the NPP Government is to respond to the over 10 issues raised by President Mahama on his entitlements instead of trying to throw dust into the eyes of Ghanaians”.

He further appealed to the media to be circumspect with the matter and digest it holistically by demanding answers and responses from Government on issues raised by the former President.
