Accra:Kofi Bentil, Senior Vice President of IMANI Africa and a lawyer, has emphasized that loyalty is a crucial factor alongside competence when appointing individuals to high-level positions, such as the next Chief Justice of Ghana.
According to Ghana Web, Bentil discussed on Joy News that while the candidates for the Chief Justice position are all highly competent, competence alone should not be the deciding factor for the appointment.
Bentil highlighted from his corporate management experience that at senior levels, organizations often prioritize candidates who exhibit both adequate competence and strong loyalty. He explained that leaders prefer individuals who do not require constant supervision, emphasizing that competence does not automatically ensure loyalty.
He further warned that highly competent individuals might still lack trustworthiness, noting, "There can be people who are very, very competent but devious."
