Accra: Veteran journalist and Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr, has raised questions about comments made by Kennedy Agyapong, a presidential hopeful, after the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primaries.
According to Ghana Web, Kennedy Agyapong, who was one of five candidates in the primaries, conceded defeat after the polls closed on January 31, 2026. He urged his supporters to drop the slogan 'No Ken, No Vote' in preparation for the 2028 general elections. Agyapong called for patience and unity within the party, stating, 'I know we have three years to go. Who knows what will happen? So, I want you to be patient. Don't say 'No Ken, No Vote'. That slogan should be out.'
Kwesi Pratt Jnr expressed curiosity about Agyapong's suggestion that 'nobody knows what will happen' in the next three years. Speaking during a panel discussion on Peace FM's Kokrokoo on February 3, 2026, Pratt questioned the potential developments Agyapong might be hinting at. Pratt speculated that Agyapong's comments could be seen as indicating expectations of future political opportunities, such as the possibility of being selected as a running mate or being considered for other roles within the party.
Meanwhile, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the former Vice President of Ghana, emerged victorious in the NPP presidential primaries, securing the party's flagbearer position for the 2028 general elections. Official results released by the Electoral Commission after the January 31, 2026 polls showed Dr Bawumia winning with 110,645 votes, representing 56.48% of the total valid votes cast. Kennedy Agyapong placed second with 46,554 votes (23.76%), followed by Dr Bryan Acheampong with 36,303 votes (18.53%). Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum and Kwabena Agyapong secured 1,999 votes (1.02%) and 402 votes (0.21%), respectively.
