Accra:Kwasi Kwarteng, former spokesperson for Kennedy Ohene Agyapong's campaign team for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer position, has refuted claims that Agyapong has resigned from the party.
According to Ghana Web, Kwarteng stated that Kennedy Agyapong is currently in China for business purposes and has not submitted any resignation letter to the NPP. He emphasized that reports of Agyapong's resignation should be dismissed.
The rumors of the former Assin Central Member of Parliament's departure from the NPP have elicited diverse reactions among party supporters and social media users. While some expressed sympathy for Agyapong, others voiced concerns about the potential impact on the party.
A few social media users suggested that Agyapong should have waited to contest the party's flagbearer position again. One user commented on the situation, expressing understanding of Agyapong's feelings but urging patience for another opportunity.
Speculations about Agyapong's political future have also emerged, with some netizens suggesting a possible alliance with former NPP flagbearer hopeful Alan Kyerematen, known as Alan Cash, who left the party to form the Movement for Change.
