Ho:Kwame Junior Asiemoah, known as JAK-UP, has officially entered the race for the Volta Regional Youth Organizer position of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) by filing his nomination and launching his campaign manifesto at the NDC Volta Regional Office.
According to Ghana Web, JAK-UP's manifesto, centered on six main pillars, aims to bolster the organization of the youth wing, enhance opportunities for young people, and establish structures for their economic and personal growth. His experience as Deputy Regional Youth Organizer is a key component of his campaign strategy.
JAK-UP emphasized that the race should focus on more than ambition and electoral mobilization, advocating for leadership that is rooted in experience, preparation, and commitment. He aims to create a youth wing that remains relevant to young people beyond election cycles by providing skills, networks, and resources for life improvement.
A notable proposal in his manifesto is the creation of a Youth Opportunity Centre, designed to offer access to scholarships, job opportunities, and capacity-building programs. He criticized the current system's reliance on personal connections and proposed a more organized approach to linking young people with opportunities.
Additionally, JAK-UP proposed the Volta Youth Drive, which targets promoting the region's tourism to generate economic opportunities for young residents. This initiative would leverage the region's cleanliness and foster activities to attract visitors.
The manifesto aims to ensure every constituency and member feels valued within the youth wing. JAK-UP promised to elaborate on the six pillars and their implementation as his campaign unfolds. His candidacy has garnered support from some youth organizers and young party members, with his previous role enhancing his appeal to delegates.
The contest is set to highlight differing visions for the NDC youth wing's future and how candidates plan to fulfill their promises for the benefit of young party members throughout the region.
