Kumawu: Mr Yaw Ernest Anim, Member of Parliament for Kumawu, has commiserated with the families of a tragic road accident that claimed the lives of four persons and injured five others in Kumawu. The accident occurred when a construction truck transporting sand from Abotanso lost control and crashed into a hairdressing salon and a storey building, causing loss of lives and extensive property damage.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Anim, who also serves as the chairman of Parliament's Human Rights Committee, visited the accident scene and the hospital on Sunday morning to interact with victims. He expressed his devastation over the incident and explained that his visit was to personally assess the situation, offer consolation to the affected families, and interact with victims receiving treatment.
Mr Anim stated, "I was deeply saddened to learn of this unfortunate incident. The loss of lives is heartbreaking, and my thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families as well as those battling for their lives in hospital." He extended his condolences to the families of the deceased and wished the injured victims a speedy recovery.
He assured the families of his unwavering support throughout this difficult period. In an effort to mobilize assistance, the Kumawu MP appealed to the government, benevolent individuals, corporate institutions, faith-based organizations, and the public to aid the affected families. He emphasized that support in the form of financial assistance, medical care, and emotional encouragement would significantly ease the burden on those affected.
Mr Anim urged residents of the constituency and Ghanaians nationwide to demonstrate compassion and solidarity in response to the tragedy. He highlighted the importance of unity in times of crisis and pledged to work closely with traditional authorities, local leaders, and relevant stakeholders to ensure the affected families receive necessary support.
