Sunyani: Mr. Seid Mubarak, the Member of Parliament for Sunyani East, has presented 50 bags of cement and a trip of sand to support the construction of a Basic School at Kuffour Camp, in the constituency.
According to Ghana News Agency, the project was initiated by Nana Owusu Afriyie, the Chief of Kuffuor Camp, a farming community. The school will include a creche, kindergarten, Lower Primary, offices, and a library. Speaking at a ceremony at Kuffuor Camp, Mr. Mubarak expressed his commitment to enhancing educational facilities to create an environment conducive to effective teaching and learning in the constituency.
He urged community members to assist in the project's execution and commended the chief for his initiative. Nana Afriyie highlighted the community's need for a Basic School, as children currently walk long distances to attend school in Atronie, the nearest town. This situation poses safety risks, as children walk along the Sunyani-Atronie Road, which has seen pedestrian accidents.
Nana Afriyie shared a tragic incident where a school child was knocked down by a vehicle while returning from Atronie, emphasizing the urgency of the project. He called for support from the government, non-governmental organizations, corporate bodies, and philanthropists to aid the school's construction, which has reached window level. He expressed gratitude to the MP for his assistance.
