Accra: Ghanaian singer-songwriter Kuami Eugene has opened up about a unique challenge in his music career-deciding which of his numerous unreleased tracks to release. The talented artist revealed that he has amassed a catalog of over 380 unreleased songs, making the decision-making process daunting.
According to Ghana Web, Kuami Eugene shared in an interview on 3Music TV that his prolific recording habit stems from advice given by Richie Mensah. Mensah encouraged Eugene to harness his creativity while he still possesses the energy and inspiration. Eugene noted that some of these tracks date back to before his time with Lynx Entertainment, including gospel music he composed during his church days under the name Eugene Marfo.
The singer further explained that he occasionally revisits older tracks, updating their production and lyrics to align with current trends before considering their release. This process allows him to keep his music fresh and relevant in the ever-evolving music landscape.
Kuami Eugene recently released his ‘Sweet Boy’ EP, a project that posed its own challenges due to the sheer volume of high-quality songs he had to choose from. He admitted that the selection process was tough, with many strong contenders. Interestingly, the song ‘I’m Hurt,’ which has gained significant attention, was initially not part of the EP. It was added as a bonus track following feedback from young music fans during a listening session.
