Kumasi:Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) has cautioned students against paying GHS300 for hostel accommodation through alleged protocol arrangements. The university has dismissed viral social media claims suggesting such payments are necessary, asserting that room booking via its official portal is entirely free.
According to Ghana Web, a public notice issued by the university on October 16, 2026, advises students and the public not to believe audio and video recordings that claim payments of GHS300 could secure protocol accommodation. The university labeled these claims as false.
KsTU emphasized that students allocated halls must book their rooms through the official portal once it becomes available. The notice stressed that no individual should be paid to facilitate this process.
The university also reminded students to promptly pay their approved hall fees after successfully booking their rooms. It clarified that a booking is only secured after both the booking and payment are completed within the stipulated period.
The notice strongly advised against paying any individuals or middlemen for room bookings, urging students to use only the official portal and approved payment channels. It specified that bookings for the GETFund Hostel at the Adako Jachie Campus had already begun on October 16, with bookings for other halls starting on October 19, 2026.
Students are encouraged to remain vigilant, adhere to the official booking process, and ensure that all hall fee payments are made through authorized channels. The notice, signed by Dr. Charles Obeng-Sarpong, the Acting Registrar of KsTU, aims to prevent misinformation and unauthorized payments related to hostel accommodations.
