KsTU admits 3,633 fresh students

Kumasi, The Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) on Friday held a ceremony to admit fresh students to pursue various programmes with a call to them to stay away from relationships that could sap away and weaken their focus.

Professor Asiamah Yeboah, the acting Vice Chancellor, said they should avoid bad company, which could lead to vices such as alcoholism, indecent dressing and unbridled sexual lives.

He told them that the university frowned on those behaviours and would not hesitate to apply appropriate sanctions.

KsTU received a total of 6,671 applications and out of this number, 3,633 gained admission.

They are made up of 2,236 males and 1,397 females and they would be pursuing programmes in health sciences, applied sciences and technology, engineering and technology, built and natural environment, creative arts and technology, business and entrepreneurship.

Prof Yeboah reminded them to adhere strictly to the rules and regulations of the institution and added that any breaches had the potential of jeopardizing their academic career.

He advised that they paid attention to their lectures and cultivated the habit of reading especially reference materials.

The acting Vice Chancellor cautioned them to resist any temptation to cheat in examinations and said any incident of examination malpractice can lead to your dismissal.

The university, last year, expelled six students for examination misconduct and he admonished them to work diligently to have a brilliant beginning.
