KOICA and Partners Deliver Four Modern Kindergarten Facilities in North East Region

Accra: Four fully furnished, modern kindergarten facilities have been handed over to communities in the North East Region, significantly enhancing the learning environment for children. The beneficiary communities, including Loagri, Kukua, La-atari, and Namangu in the West Mamprusi Municipality, received these new educational facilities. According to Ghana News Agency, these facilities were constructed under the Quality and Inclusive Early Childhood Education Services for All Children Phase 2 (QAIECE-2) project. The project was funded by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and implemented by ChorogUsan for Children, Children Believe, and AG Care Ghana. Mr. Donghyun Lee, Country Director of KOICA, emphasized the significance of these investments, stating, "These facilities are not only buildings; they are places where children will grow, learn, and build the foundation for their future." Madam Frieda Billa, Team Leader of AG Care Ghana, highlighted that the project targeted 30 communities, aim ing to reach 52,220 direct beneficiaries and 70,025 indirect beneficiaries, totaling 122,245. She expressed gratitude to the Education Directors and community members for their support, hoping that the partnership will continue to yield success stories benefiting future generations. Madam Esenam Kavi De Souza, Country Director for Children Believe, underscored the project's alignment with Ghana's Early Childhood Education policy framework, which ensures the availability of kindergarten spaces and supports effective curriculum implementation. She reiterated the importance of starting early childhood education to achieve universal primary education and commended the government's plan to construct additional kindergarten blocks by 2026. Mr. Mohammed Jabaah, Municipal Chief Executive for the West Mamprusi Municipal Assembly, noted that the project would benefit over 122,000 people, emphasizing the role of modern kindergarten facilities as "seedbeds of dreams" and "bridges to a better tomorrow." Dr. Issahaque M unawaru, Deputy Director-General in charge of Quality and Access at the Ghana Education Service, highlighted the strong collaboration among the project partners and the USD 1.85 million investment in QAIECE Phase II. He stressed the importance of early childhood education in national policy and its positive impact on children's growth and learning outcomes. Dr. Munawaru encouraged community support for the new facilities, urging parents and leaders to ensure regular attendance and collaborate with teachers to maximize the long-term benefits of these investments.
