Sunyani: The Kings City Assembly of the Sunyani South Industrial Estate District of the Church of Pentecost recently organized a health screening exercise for its congregation, aimed at assessing their health conditions.
According to Ghana News Agency, the event was conducted in partnership with the Optimal Wellness Association, a group committed to promoting general wellbeing. Approximately 250 church members participated in the exercise, which was facilitated by a team of medical officers and health workers from various local hospitals and clinics within the Sunyani Municipality.
The health screening was conducted on a voluntary basis, offering checks for HIV and AIDS, hepatitis, sugar levels, diabetes, blood pressure, body mass index, and eye conditions. Individuals with serious health issues were referred to appropriate health facilities for further medical care.
Elder Michael Agyemang Debrah, the Presiding Elder of the King Assembly, highlighted the importance of regular health check-ups during an int
erview with the Ghana News Agency. He noted with concern that many people only seek medical attention when they are ill or notice abnormalities, and he encouraged local health centers to provide affordable health screening services.
Elder Debrah emphasized the need for annual medical check-ups to monitor blood pressure, cholesterol, and sugar levels, expressing gratitude to the health workers for their involvement in the exercise. ‘Our goal is to support the holistic well-being of our community by providing opportunities for people to access quality healthcare,’ he stated.
