Accra: Founder and President of the Centre for International Trade and Education Ghana (CITEG), Alex Kwaku Tetteh, has disclosed remarks made by presidential hopeful Kennedy Agyapong regarding Prophet Elbernard Nelson-Eshun of Spirit Life Revival Ministries, ahead of the January 31, 2026, New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primaries.
According to Ghana Web, Kennedy Agyapong confided in his supporters about his apprehensions concerning Prophet Elbernard's prophecy related to his political prospects. In an interview on Top FM on February 3, 2026, Alex Tetteh shared that Agyapong was worried about the prophet, feeling that he was delving too deeply and emphasizing the prophecy excessively within his church.
Tetteh recounted, 'He said he was scared for Elbernard. He felt the prophet was going too far and putting too much pressure on his church because of him. I kept thinking about what he said the whole night.' Tetteh also suggested that Agyapong believed he perceived things his followers could not see, and some of his supporters were possibly being misled.
Agyapong seemed to anticipate his defeat in the primaries. Before the elections, Prophet Elbernard had persistently prophesied Agyapong's victory in the NPP presidential primaries, asserting that an angel revealed the outcome to him. In one church declaration, the prophet informed Agyapong that his ballot number would match his position post-election.
However, after the primaries, Prophet Elbernard apologized publicly when the prophecy did not come to fruition. He issued a statement on his Facebook page, acknowledging his mistake, 'That word did not come to pass. I missed it. I was wrong. I am deeply sorry, and I ask for your forgiveness.' He took full responsibility for the failed prophecy, recognizing its impact on those who trusted his word.
Prophet Elbernard expressed remorse to those affected by his message and reflected on how prophetic revelations should be communicated. Ultimately, former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia won the NPP presidential primaries, becoming the party's flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.
Official results announced post-election showed Dr. Bawumia securing 110,645 votes (56.48 percent), with Kennedy Agyapong receiving 46,554 votes (23.76 percent). Dr. Bryan Acheampong followed with 36,303 votes (18.53 percent), Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum with 1,999 votes (1.02 percent), and Kwabena Agyapong with 402 votes (0.21 percent).
