Accra: Musician Keche Joshua has defended Stonebwoy following backlash over his reaction to the cancellation of Shatta Wale's ShattaFest in the UK. Speaking in a recent interview, Joshua addressed Stonebwoy's social media post after the incident, explaining that some fans misunderstood the dancehall star's message.
According to Ghana Web, Joshua clarified that Stonebwoy was only expressing sympathy over the development, noting that no artiste or event promoter would wish for such an outcome. "Stonebwoy came to write that no artiste or show promoter expects this. Then all of a sudden, fans came from nowhere and started insulting him, but there was nothing wrong with what Stonebwoy did," he said.
Reacting to news of the event's cancellation, Keche Joshua said he initially hoped the reports were false and immediately reached out to contacts in the UK to verify the information. "When I heard the news, I said, 'I hope it's not true,' because Shatta is my gee. So I made some calls to the UK to find out if it was true. Even my younger sister attended the event. Then people started sending me videos, and I knew it was true," he said.
According to him, it was obvious that significant resources had been invested in the event, making the cancellation unfortunate for everyone involved. "A lot of money had been invested in it. There was a private jet and other things. Even parking a private jet at the airport is not easy," he stated.
He further urged people not to allow public opinion to stop them from doing what they believe is right. "That is why I'm telling you that sometimes if you look at what other people are saying, you won't do the right thing," he concluded.
