Kantanka Family Clarifies Viral Reports on Funeral Date of the Late Apostle Safo

Accra: The Aduana (Kotoko) Royals of Essumeja Asantemanso, along with the Aduana Family of Essumeja, Asante-Bekwai, have issued a statement to address misinformation about the funeral arrangements for the late Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka.

According to Ghana Web, the statement, dated July 23, 2026, and signed by Dr. Philip Siaw Kissi, Secretary and Co-Chair of the Funeral Committee, warns against the spread of false reports. The family emphasized that no official date has been set for the burial and final funeral rites. They explained that consultations are still in progress and that an approved date and programme will be announced in due course.

Additionally, the statement refuted claims that any invitation cards, posters, flyers, or social media posts related to the funeral, including those with dates of July 30, July 31, and August 28, 2026, have been authorized by the family. The family stressed their commitment to ensuring that the funeral arrangements respect the deceased's wishes, family traditions, and necessary protocols.

The family expressed gratitude to the media, sympathisers, friends, and the public for their support during this time of loss. They urged everyone to rely only on official communications from authorised family representatives to prevent the spread of misinformation.

The statement was also signed by Busuapanin Nyantakyi Adomako and Nana Karikari, representing the family of the late Apostle Prof Emeritus Kwadwo Safo Kantanka.
