Joint Operation in Bono Region Leads to Arrest of 24 and Recovery of Weapons

Sampa: The Bono Regional Police Command, in collaboration with the 3rd Infantry Battalion (3BN) and the Bureau of National Intelligence (BNI), conducted a special joint operation resulting in the arrest of 24 suspects and the recovery of eight assorted weapons in Sampa Township of the Bono Region.

According to Ghana News Agency, the security forces launched the tactical operation in the early hours of March 21, aiming to eliminate weapons and criminal elements from the town. A release, signed by Police Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, Public Relation Officer of the Bono Regional Command, reported the recovery of five pump action guns, one baikal gun, two locally made guns, and 790 rounds of AAA and BB cartridges.

Additional items seized included one pouch, seven pairs of black and desert boots, six whiskers, 21 machetes, four bayonets, five clubs, two foreign military jackets, two body armors (one without a metal plate), one AK 47 ammunition, and six assorted keypad phones. The operation also uncovered 12 assorted smartphones, an official stamp marked 'Nana Samgba Gyafla Il President Sampa Traditional Council,' eight assorted motorbikes, one pair of pliers, one chisel, six knives, one torchlight, one Ripshaw, and a quantity of talismans.

The suspects, ranging in age from 13 to 78, include Losina Ibrahim, Siaka Sirachi, Nketia Samuel, Wuli Kwabena Mensah, Daniel Damoah, Sie Mayr Alphonses, Musah Shakure, Akwasi Bio, Mensah Kofi Emmanuel, Sie Kwadwo Bright, Yunus Mohammed, Mohammed Watara, Abu Karim, Sereboma Latif, Sampson Kraa Yaw, Issifu Karim, Amadu Mahama Subo, Okra Macus Akwasi, Sie Emmanuel, Amid Issah, Abu Amadu, Takyi Poku, Baba Yeboah Adams, and Sah Kwaku Ankamah.

The release noted that Sie Emmanuel and Mensah Kofi Emmanuel were specifically apprehended for breaching curfew regulations. Currently, all the suspects are in police custody assisting with investigations, and preparations are underway for their prosecution.

The Bono Regional Police Command has urged the public to continue providing credible information to help arrest individuals possessing unlawful weapons, as part of efforts to enhance the safety and security of the citizens.
