Accra, The Joint Cybersecurity Committee (JCC) was on Thursday inaugurated to collaborate with the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) and other stakeholders to implement relevant cybersecurity measures in Ghana.
The 18-member committee include Dr Albert Antwi-Boasiako, Director-General, CSA (Chairperson); Justice Afia Serwah Asare-Botwe, Justice of the Superior Court of Judicature, Judicial Service; Mr Richard Okyere-Fosu, Director-General, National Information Technology Agency; Mr Joe Anokye, Director-General, National Communications Authority; Ms Patricia Adusei-Poku, Executive Director, Data Protection Commission; Dr Maxwell Opoku-Afari, 1st Deputy Governor, Bank of Ghana.
Others are Mr Kwaku Dua, Chief Executive Officer, Financial Intelligence Centre; Nana Attobrah Quaicoe, Deputy Director-General, National Intelligence Bureau; Commissioner of Police (COP) Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah, Executive Director, Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO); Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Mr Frederick Agyei, Criminal Investigations Department (CID); Colonel Dr Tim Ba-Taa-Banah, Director of National Counter-Terrorism Fusion Centre, National Security Council Secretariat; Mr Kwabena Adu-Boahene, Director-General, National Signals Bureau.
Major General A.Y. Nsiah, Chief of Defence Intelligence; Mr Laud Akwasi Affrifah, Deputy Comptroller-General, Ghana Immigration Service; Mr George Abaka Blankson, Deputy Director-General, Research Department; Colonel A.K. Oduah, Acting Director-General, Defence Communication and Information Systems, Ghana Armed Forces; Ms Yvonne Atakora Obuobisa, Director of Public Prosecutions, Office of the Attorney-General and Ministry of Justice and Mr Nana Kofi Asafu-Aidoo, Executive Director, Ghana Domain Name Registry.
Mrs Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, Minister of Communications and Digitalisation,,, who led the ceremony,,, said the cross sectoral nature of cybersecurity, necessitated the formation of the Committee to facilitate prompt response and resolution of cybersecurity cases.
She said the Committee would provide institutional collaboration at the highest level to develop Ghana’s cybersecurity.
Mrs Owusu-Ekuful said the formation of the team would also allow them to bring their rich expertise on board and foster prompt response in all sectors to mitigate cyber related incidences.
She said cybersecurity was multi-sectoral in nature, as such, a multi-sectoral approach was necessary to tackle it.
The Minister said therefore, collaboration among various stakeholders within the public and private sector was critical and urged the committee to foster such synergies.
“This is not the time for turf wars and working in silos and you need to coordinate your efforts, collaborate and cooperate with each other to succeed. We are all in this together and the country demands this of you to ensure our collective cybersecurity,” she said.
Speaking on behalf of the Committee, Justice Asare-Botwe urged members to provide prompt responses whenever they were called upon to assist in cybersecurity matters.
She expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in them and pledged their unflinching commitment in the fight against cybercrimes in Ghana.
