Accra: Ghanaian drill rapper Jay Bhad has opened up about his personal spirituality, revealing that despite starting each day in prayer, he does not identify as a Christian and has no interest in organised religion. In a recent interview with Hitz FM, Jay Bhad shared insights into his daily routine, emphasizing his personal connection with God.
According to Ghana Web, Jay Bhad was asked about how he begins his day, to which he responded, “When I wake up, I pray to God,” before clarifying, “I am not a Christian. I don’t go to church.” The rapper elaborated on his spiritual beliefs, expressing his preference for a direct relationship with God rather than participating in traditional religious practices.
Jay Bhad further explained his stance, noting that his understanding of God does not require him to be in a specific place or with a group to communicate with the divine. “I’ve studied the Bible, and I realised that God is everywhere with us. I do not have to be in a building or a group to communicate with God. Because every day, me and God, we talk,” he stated. This personal relationship with God also influences his music, as he waits for divine inspiration before creating his songs.
The rapper emphasized the importance of his personal connection with God, saying, “Even with my songs, I don’t force myself. I wait for God’s message before I record. I can ask God for something and he will provide it. So I saw that there was no need to go to a church or receive messages from a pastor, because I myself am powerful.” When questioned about which God he meant, Jay Bhad affirmed, “God who created the Heavens and the earth.”
Additionally, Jay Bhad acknowledged his belief in Jesus Christ and the word of God, stating, “I believe in Jesus Christ. I believe in God’s word.” This unique perspective highlights his individual approach to spirituality, distinct from traditional religious affiliations.
