It’s not normal to be abused because of your skin – Nico Williams

Span attacker of Ghanaian descent, Nico Williams has indicated that it's abnormal for people to continue abusing players racially. The younger brother of Inaki Williams was in action for Athletic Club on Saturday night when the team suffered a 3-1 defeat to Atletico Madrid in the Spanish La Liga. During the game, Nico Williams was subjected to racial abuse by some supporters of Atletico Madrid. Speaking on the incident in a post-match interview, the talented forward said although he agrees there are stupid people everywhere, racism must stop. 'It's not normal to be abused because of your skin. I know there's stupid people everywhere but it has to change,' Nico Williams said. He disclosed that after the incident he received a lot of support from players of Atletico Madrid. 'Atletico Madrid players supported me, they understand me. It's unacceptable to hear monkey sounds. I saw and heard three guys doing it,' Nico Williams stressed. Despite the racial abuse, Nico Williams showed a strong mentality to con tinue playing and netted the consolation goal for his team.
