Nyankyerenease: Development Chief of Nyankyerenease, Apostle Dr. Nana Gyamfi Kumanin Kese, has called for urgent investment in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), saying it is the surest path to reducing youth unemployment and driving Ghana's economic growth.
According to Ghana Web, Apostle Dr. Kumanin Kese emphasized the under-prioritization of TVET despite its direct link to job creation and national development during his speech at the maiden International Conference on Education and Humanities at USTED on Wednesday. He stated that TVET has not received the attention it deserves, yet it is crucial for economic growth and development.
The chief stressed the importance of investing in practical skills to reduce unemployment. He highlighted the unique advantage traditional authorities have due to their influence in communities, which should be leveraged to change perceptions about technical education. Traditional leaders, he noted, play a vital role in Ghana's education and have the power to promote sustainable development.
Apostle Dr. Kumanin Kese urged government, educators, and industry players to collaborate, stating that stakeholders must team up to provide quality TVET for young people.
