Mr. Thomas Anabah, the former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ridge Hospital in the Greater Accra region, has vowed the smooth implementation of the government’s Agenda 111 will come to nought because of the lack of human resources to man them.

The objective of the Agenda 111 project as envisioned by the President is to ensure that Ghanaians in every district and region have access to quality healthcare services.

The proposed project is to boost the provision of healthcare infrastructure in line with the government’s commitment to ensuring universal health care for all citizens and attainment of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG3).

It will further fulfil the government’s policy of a hospital in each district and region, improve the geographical coverage of healthcare delivery in the country, and offer improved access to healthcare for all Ghanaians.

In the process, the outcome will also come with a model of accelerated construction of health facilities developed for future health projects.

The former CEO of Ridge Hospital also known as Greater Accra Regional Hospital painted this gloomy picture about the government’s much-talked about health project while speaking on the canker of ‘No-Bed-Syndrome’ that has hit most hospital facilities in the country.

The former CEO spoke on the Ghana Yensom morning show hosted by Mr Emmanuel Quarshie (The Hitman) on Accra 100.5 FM on Monday, August 29, 2022.

“Do not get me wrong the Agenda 111 project is a laudable one,” he said, adding that the project needs to roll out progressively.

He explained that it would be difficult for many of these Agenda 111 hospitals to run if fully completed by the government.

He added that there is a massive shortage of human resources on the health front.

“Go to Tamale Teaching Hospital, Legon Teaching, Wa Teaching, and Bolgatanga among other hospitals are understaffed,” he said.

He stressed that there are no people to man these hospitals across the country.

“So where will the people come from to man Agenda 111 projects?” he asked.

“There is no human resource to man the existing hospitals in the country,” he added.
