Accra: Social media personality Priscilla Kyeremaa, known online as Prisywan, has issued an unqualified apology to Ghanaian dancehall musician Shatta Wale following a legal threat from his lawyers over controversial statements she made in a TikTok video.
According to Ghana Web, Prisywan issued her apology on September 11, 2026, after Shatta Wale's legal representatives, Porta Legis Consultancy, gave her a 48-hour ultimatum to remove the video, retract her statements, and issue a public apology. In her statement, Prisywan acknowledged crossing the line with her comments and conceded Shatta Wale's right to pursue legal action.
Prisywan's apology recognized the seriousness of her actions, stating, "Shatta, I am sorry. I just want to come on here and render an unqualified apology to you, sincerely. I acknowledge that I crossed the line with this particular one. You are right. You have the prerogative to take me on, to take legal action, or even apprehend me."
The controversy arose after a TikTok video posted by Prisywan on August 29, 2026, which followed an interview Shatta Wale had with broadcaster Serwaa Amihere. The video included comments urging Shatta Wale to take his mental health seriously and described him as a "confused artiste."
Shatta Wale's lawyers argued that these statements could be perceived as implying that the musician had mental health issues. They described the comments as "false, malicious, reckless, and seriously injurious" to Shatta Wale's reputation and professional standing. The lawyers further claimed the video had been widely circulated, leading to commercial repercussions, including the cancellation of a meeting with investors.
Prisywan also acknowledged reports that her comments had affected Shatta Wale commercially, including the alleged loss of a contract. She expressed remorse, stating, "And I hear that you lost a contract because of my comments, which makes it even more pathetic. I don't take delight in hurting people to that point, and so I want to apologise to you. I am sorry, Shatta Wale."
Shatta Wale's legal team emphasized that while their client does not oppose legitimate criticism, they take issue with statements deemed false and damaging. They demanded the removal of the video, a retraction, and a commitment from Prisywan to refrain from making similar allegations in the future. Failure to comply within 48 hours could result in further legal actions, including civil proceedings and claims for damages.
