‘I Am Not Dating Julius Debrah’ – Salma Mumin Dismisses Claims

Accra: Ghanaian actress and filmmaker Salma Mumin has dismissed claims that she was in a romantic relationship with Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, describing the allegation as completely false. The issue gained attention on social media in 2025 after Afia Schwarzenegger alleged that Salma was dating Julius Debrah.

According to Ghana Web, the claims, which surfaced amid discussions about the Chief of Staff's political prospects within the NDC, generated significant reactions online. Afia Schwarzenegger, known for her outspoken commentary on social and political issues, also directed strong criticism at Julius Debrah while discussing the matter. Her remarks subsequently sparked a wider conversation, with the alleged relationship becoming part of a broader political debate on social media.

Speaking on Joy Prime on September 11, 2026, during an interview with Nikki Samonas, Salma rejected the allegation, saying she has never met Julius Debrah or even encountered him before. Salma explained that such an allegation could have had serious consequences if she had been in a committed relationship with another person, particularly if she had been unable to publicly address the claim.

Salma noted that she previously preferred to remain silent whenever she faced allegations or criticism, believing that refusing to engage was the best way to handle such situations. However, she said her willingness to now speak about the matter reflects a change in her confidence. She acknowledged that her denial may not convince everyone, noting that some people could still choose to believe the allegations against her.

She nevertheless urged people facing similar claims to speak up and defend themselves, regardless of whether others ultimately accept their side of the story.
