How ‘Weed Cake’ Incident Impacted Ball J Beats’ Music Career

Accra: Renowned Ghanaian sound engineer and record producer, Ball J Beats, has revealed the impact of consuming a cake infused with weed on his career, highlighting the lengths he had to go to for recovery. In an interview on Asempa FM, Ball J Beats shared that the incident occurred at a party where he unknowingly consumed a weed-infused cake.

According to Ghana Web, the producer explained that his initial experience with the cake enhanced his creativity, prompting him to try it again. Unfortunately, the second attempt did not end well. "It was a sudden breakdown. I took some weed cake, and I vanished from the industry," he confessed, describing how the substance initially helped him produce music like the beat for 'Let me do my thing' but eventually led to a loss of control.

Ball J Beats recounted being at a music video party for one of his artists, where he unknowingly consumed the cake again, leading to a severe reaction. He described a hallucination that felt like being confined for a century, despite lasting only four hours. "I was hospitalised. It was as if I was locked in a room that was set on fire," he said, expressing the distress he felt during the episode.

The intervention of his wife and a close friend, Malik Ofori, was crucial in getting him to the hospital, preventing a more severe mental breakdown. "I thank God for my wife. Even at the hospital, I was seeing the nurses like ants," he recounted, noting how medical assistance helped him return to his senses.
