Accra: Mrs Christiana Agbove, wife of the Bankoe District Pastor of The Church of Pentecost, has urged Christian women to rely on the power of the Holy Spirit to transform their homes, churches, and society through prayer, fasting, and godly living. She emphasized that the strength and foundation of the Church are derived from the Holy Spirit and stressed the need for believers to continually wait upon God through prayer and fasting to receive divine direction and empowerment.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mrs Agbove made these remarks during the climax of the National Women's Week celebration at the Fiave Central Assembly of The Church of Pentecost in the Ho Municipality. The event was themed 'Women Unleashed to Transform Society Through the Power of the Holy Spirit.' While preaching from Acts 13:1-3, she highlighted how the Holy Spirit instructed the leaders of the church in Antioch to set apart Barnabas and Saul for God's work during their time of prayer and fasting. This, she noted, demonstrates the importance of spiritual devotion and obedience to God's direction.
Mrs Agbove emphasized that the Holy Spirit carries power, enabling those who possess Him to lead holy lives and walk in boldness without fear. She elaborated on the role of motherhood, stating that it extends beyond giving birth, as many women play nurturing and mentoring roles in society, deserving recognition as mothers. She urged mothers to pray consistently for their children and speak positively about their lives and destinies, emphasizing the importance of spiritual discernment and guiding children to know Christ, as true transformation begins with salvation.
She further stressed the necessity of transforming homes as a precursor to transforming society, stating, 'A godly home produces a transformed society.' As a Deaconess of the Church, Mrs Agbove encouraged believers to live exemplary lives and pursue peace with all people in society. Referring to the biblical story of Esther, she illustrated how prayer and godly influence can bring transformation in any environment. Esther, through fasting and prayer, successfully introduced the worship of God into the palace and positively influenced her generation.
Mrs Agbove quoted Zechariah 4:6 to emphasize that transformation is achieved not by might or power, but by the Spirit of the Lord Almighty. She called on Christian women to remain steadfast in their faith and to become agents of positive change wherever they find themselves.
