Hamamat Launches Cultural Challenge Series with Rabbi Winning First Event

Accra: Ghanaian wellness and cultural experience brand Hamamat has launched a new competition series that will see participants compete in a variety of Ghanaian food, game, and cultural challenges for a GHS10,000 grand prize. The competition series, which runs from August to December, kicked off at the Hamamat Wellness House in Accra over the weekend with an ice cream and popsicle eating contest, where Rabbi emerged as the winner of the opening event.

According to Ghana News Agency, Rabbi outperformed fellow competitors in the inaugural challenge, becoming the first winner in the series and taking an early step toward the ultimate cash prize. The initiative features a range of competitions inspired by Ghanaian food, games, and cultural activities, including pepper eating, Ampe, Oware, suya and kebab eating contests, jollof challenges, ice block eating competitions, and other surprise events to be announced throughout the period.

Organisers stated that the concept seeks to transform familiar Ghanaian foods, games, and cultural experiences into live, interactive entertainment that people can participate in, share, and enjoy both online and in person. "The idea is simple: come with your talent, your appetite, or your game and prove you are the best," the organisers said.

Participants have the opportunity to compete in individual challenges, qualify through successive events, and work their way toward the GHS10,000 grand prize. The competitions are open to participants aged 16 years and above, depending on the specific challenge. Contestants under 18 years require parental or guardian consent, while certain competitions may be restricted to adults for safety reasons.

Organisers announced that detailed rules and eligibility requirements would be revealed ahead of each challenge. Interested participants are encouraged to follow Hamamat's social media platforms for updates and registration information. The competition series is part of Hamamat's broader mission of promoting Ghanaian culture, traditional wellness, and African heritage through unique experiences and community engagement.

Known for initiatives such as the Shea Butter Museum, which showcases the history and cultural significance of shea, and the Hamamat Wellness House, an African-inspired wellness and experience centre in Accra, the brand says the new challenge series is designed to celebrate local traditions while creating memorable entertainment experiences.
