Prampram:Greater Accra secured a dramatic victory over Prempeh Elite Academy, winning 4-3 on penalties after a goalless draw during Matchday Four of the 2026 KGL Foundation Inter-Regional U17 Colts Championship at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence.
According to Ghana Web, the Group A match was highly anticipated and provided an intense contest, but neither team managed to score in regular time. Greater Accra held their nerve in the penalty shootout, while Isaac Obeng from Prempeh Elite Academy was named the Most Valuable Player.
Elsewhere, Central Region dominated Upper East Region with a 3-0 win at the betPawa pitch. Joshua Antwi scored first in the 40th minute, followed by a goal from MVP Bernard Appiah in the 74th minute, and Issaka Mahmoud sealed the victory shortly after.
Western Region also triumphed in a penalty shootout against Elite Academy, BIG Boss, winning 4-1 after a 1-1 draw. Abubakari Ibrahim initially put Elite Academy ahead in the 43rd minute, but Bismark Yalley equalized for Western Region, leading to the shootout.
Northern Region delivered a solid 3-1 victory over Volta Region. Sumaila Mohammed's exceptional performance included goals in the first and 20th minutes. Though Hamza Chassei scored for Volta in the 38th minute, Abubakari Arimeyaw ensured Northern Region's win with a goal in the 52nd minute.
Eastern Region celebrated their second win of the campaign, beating Upper West Region 2-0. Kamagate Ahmed scored just one minute into the match, and Samuel Opare added another in the 38th minute. James Afful earned MVP honors.
In Group B, Brong Ahafo defeated defending champions Ashanti Region 2-1, knocking them out of contention for the knockout stage. Malik Ibrahim scored early for Brong Ahafo, and after Emmanuel Koomson equalized for Ashanti, Agbelengo Elvin secured the win in the 74th minute.
With only one match remaining for each team, the group stage is reaching its climax. The final fixtures will determine which teams progress to the knockout stage, as the competition is part of the Ghana Football Association's Talent Development Scheme, aimed at nurturing young football talent in the country.
