Accra: Apostle Professor Samuel Asuming-Brempong, the immediate past Chairman of the Great Commission Church International (GCCI), launched the Church's 35th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday. The theme for the celebration is 'Living to Win, Church and Disciple.' The launch took place at the 2026 Greater Accra Regional Easter Convention of GCCI Ghana, held at Frafraha near Accra.
According to Ghana News Agency, Apostle Asuming-Brempong expressed his gratitude to the Almighty God for the progress the Church has made over the years. He prayed for the continued growth and strength of the Church, hoping it would extend its reach worldwide, with the glory of God remaining ever-present.
During his address, Apostle Asuming-Brempong quoted a Bible passage, emphasizing the importance of patience and faith in God's appointed time. He reflected on the vision God gave to the founding fathers of GCCI 35 years ago, acknowledging the divine guidance and faithfulness they have experienced.
He reassured Christians that their dedication and service to God would not go unrewarded, affirming that the deeds of those who have passed away in Christ would accompany them into eternity. Reverend Godson Gbloe, a member of the GCCI Executive Council, urged members to fulfill their duty of spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ globally. He also emphasized that it was God's desire for them to prosper and remain in good health.
The Great Commission Church International (GCCI) was established on April 1, 1991, at the University of Ghana, Legon campus in Accra. Since its inception, the Church has expanded into other countries, including Togo, Benin, Gabon, and the Ivory Coast.
The founding fathers of GCCI include Apostle Joseph Felix Kwesi Mensah, Apostle Professor Samuel Asuming-Brempong, Apostle Dr. Joseph Kwabena Antwi, and Apostle Dr. Samuel Vincent Ansah, among others. Currently, Apostle Mensah serves as the Chairman of the Executive Council of GCCI, while Apostle Dr. Ansah is the Ghana National Council Chairman. Previous Chairmen of the GCCI Ghana National Council include Apostle Prof. Asuming-Brempong and Apostle Dr. Antwi.
