Accra: The Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has called on owners of uncustomed vehicles to participate in the ongoing amnesty programme, which offers a chance to regularise their vehicles before the initiative concludes on July 31.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. David Agyakwa Mensah, Senior Revenue Officer at the Customs Technical Services Bureau (CTSB), Vehicle Valuation Unit, highlighted that the amnesty was introduced by the Commissioner-General of the GRA. This programme allows vehicle owners to regularise their vehicles without incurring the penalties that would typically be applicable.
Mr. Mensah urged vehicle owners affected by this issue to visit any Customs office throughout the country before the deadline to complete the regularisation process. He clarified that under the amnesty arrangement, owners are required to pay only the applicable import duties, while penalties related to the seizure of uncustomed vehicles will be waived.
He appealed to individuals possessing uncustomed vehicles to take advantage of this initiative to avoid enforcement actions after the amnesty period ends. The programme is part of the GRA's efforts to enhance compliance with customs laws while providing vehicle owners an opportunity to regularise their vehicles under beneficial terms.
