Gov’t owing road contractors over GHS8 billion — Adaklu MP

Member of Parliament (MP) for Adaklu Constituency in the Volta Region, Kwame Governs Agbodza has disclosed that government is owing road contractors over GHS8billion.

According to him, government led by President Nana Akufo-Addo has touted plans to improve road infrastructure, it is not achievable.

The Ranking member for the Transport Committee of Parliament in an interview with Starr FM on Monday morning said while dualizing major roads in the country should be the priority, government will not be able to embark on such projects because it is unable to pay contractors.

The Adaklu MP stressed his view that he is convinced the ruling government is only interested in winning the next election and not building roads.

The need for the country to not only have dual roads but improved road infrastructure goes up each day.

Accidents recorded in various parts of the country gives a clear indication that government must make investments to build proper road networks.

Having committed the final year of his first term to the construction of roads, there are expectations that President Akufo-Addo will see his government make additional investment in the sector in his second term as well.
