Government Settles $700 Million Eurobond Obligation

Accra: The Ministry of Finance has fully settled its Eurobond obligation of $700 million ahead of schedule. A statement issued by the Finance Ministry said the payment consisted of $525.2 million in principal repayments and $174.8 million in interest payments.

According to Ghana News Agency, the payment marks a significant step in Ghana's fulfillment of its Eurobond obligations, with the country having paid a total of $2.1 billion to Eurobond holders since January 2025, under the terms of the Eurobond Debt Exchange Programme. This proactive measure highlights the Government's strategic approach to managing its financial commitments.

The statement emphasized that the payment was executed through the Government's planned financing arrangements, ensuring that the settlement did not exert undue pressure on the country's foreign exchange reserves. This achievement is expected to reduce Ghana's outstanding Eurobond debt, bolster investor confidence, and underscore the Government's dedication to maintaining prudent debt management and macroeconomic stability.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Finance reaffirmed its commitment to implementing sound public financial management practices to ensure the timely servicing of Ghana's debt obligations. The Ministry also expressed its gratitude to the people of Ghana for their continued patience, support, and confidence throughout this process.
