GoldBod Refutes Allegations of GHS200 Million Loss to Dominic Bonsu Ventures

Accra: The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has firmly denied allegations circulating on social media that it suffered a loss of GHS200 million to Dominic Bonsu Ventures. Additionally, the Board dismissed claims that the company's proprietor had served as a bodyguard or personal security officer to the Chief Executive Officer of GoldBod.

According to Ghana News Agency, GoldBod issued a statement through its Media Relations Unit, categorically labeling the allegations as false, malicious, and aimed at misleading the public. The Board emphasized the importance of disregarding such claims, urging the public to rely solely on information disseminated through its official communication channels.

The statement clarified that Mr. Dominic Bonsu was never employed as a bodyguard or personal security officer for Mr. Sammy Gyamfi, GoldBod's CEO. Furthermore, it denied any financial transactions or losses involving GHS200 million, or any other sum, to Mr. Dominic Bonsu or his company.

GoldBod revealed that the license of Dominic Bonsu Ventures was suspended due to suspected breaches of the terms and conditions outlined in its license and the GoldBod Trading Directives, in line with the Ghana Gold Board Act, 2025 (Act 1140). This action was part of the Board's regulatory duty to uphold compliance within Ghana's gold trading sector.

The statement also disclosed that investigations led to the arrest of Mr. Dominic Bonsu, who was remanded into custody by the High Court in Accra, with legal proceedings still ongoing. GoldBod expressed concern over the deliberate spread of misinformation intended to misrepresent the facts surrounding the enforcement action and deceive the public.

The Board called upon media entities, bloggers, and social media users to verify information before publication and adhere to the highest standards of responsible journalism. GoldBod reiterated its dedication to transparency and accountability, pledging to maintain communication with the public through its official channels.

In its statement, GoldBod assured that it would continue to enforce Ghana's gold trading laws impartially and professionally, without fear or favor. The Board reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the integrity, transparency, and orderly operation of the nation's gold trading industry while pursuing enforcement actions in accordance with the law.
