These teams advanced after their respective victories in the quarter-finals. On the other hand, Ghana, along with C´te d'Ivoire, South Africa, and Nigeria, all losing quarter-finalists, now have another opportunity to qualify through the play-offs.
Ghana's immediate task is to overcome C´te d'Ivoire in the African play-off, a match that offers one of Africa's two slots in the FIFA Intercontinental Play-Off Tournament. A loss would end the Black Queens' quest for a spot in Brazil 2027, but a win would keep their hopes alive, advancing them to the next stage against teams from other continents.
If successful against C´te d'Ivoire, Ghana would join the intercontinental play-offs scheduled for November-December 2026. This tournament features six teams, including two African representatives, two from Asia, one from Oceania, and one from South America, all vying for the final three World Cup spots. The top two teams from this phase will move on to the final stage in February 2027.
In the concluding phase, the two teams will join four others, forming three knockout pathways, with the winner of each pathway earning a place at the 2027 Women's World Cup.
