Ghana’s New Ambassador to Israel Directed to Maintain Two-State Solution Commitment

Accra:President John Dramani Mahama has instructed Ghana's newly appointed Ambassador to Israel, Mrs. Evelyn Korantemaa Ofosu-Amable, to uphold the nation's longstanding commitment to a two-state solution regarding the Palestine-Israel conflict. The directive was given during a commissioning ceremony at the Presidency in Accra, where Mrs. Ofosu-Amable, along with three other newly appointed envoys, received their mandates.

He stressed the need for the ambassador to adhere to international law and uphold the dignity and protection of all individuals.

The President also highlighted the ongoing cooperation between Ghana and Israel in various sectors such as agriculture, technology, healthcare, water management, and education, which he believes offers significant opportunities for development. He urged the Ambassador to foster partnerships that would enhance Ghana's expertise and meet national development objectives.

Additionally, President Mahama outlined the immediate priority of advancing discussions on a proposed labour-mobility agreement between Ghana and Israel. He stressed that any such agreement must protect the rights and welfare of Ghanaian health professionals while considering the country's own healthcare needs.

The President instructed Mrs. Ofosu-Amable to maintain regular contact with Ghanaian agricultural interns involved in the MASHAV programme in Israel, ensuring their safety, welfare, and training conditions are adequately monitored. He advised the Ambassador to address potential concerns promptly, learning from past experiences with Ghanaian trainees abroad.
