Ghana’s FDI Inflows Surge to $2.5 Billion in 2025, Says President Mahama

Accra: Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) inflows into Ghana increased significantly from $640 million in 2024 to $2.5 billion in 2025. FDI refers to investments made by foreign individuals or companies in businesses or assets in another country, usually with a long-term interest in the investment.

According to Ghana Web, speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony for the Sentuo Airport Garden City project, President John Dramani Mahama attributed the increase to an improved business environment, prudent financial management, and renewed investor confidence in Ghana's economy. He emphasized that the sharp increase in FDI inflows is an indication of growing confidence in Ghana as an investment destination.

President Mahama noted, "An enabling environment created by prudent financial management is leading to an exponential increase in foreign direct investment. From a low of $640 million in 2024, FDI inflows into Ghana have shot up to a significant amount of $2.5 billion in 2025." He clarified that the $2.5 billion figure excludes machinery, plants, and equipment brought into the country as part of foreign investments.

The President assured that the government would continue to strengthen the business environment and support investors whose activities contribute to Ghana's long-term development. He stated, "We'll continue to strengthen the business environment and support investments that contribute meaningfully to our country's development."

However, President Mahama emphasized that foreign investors must comply with Ghanaian laws while creating opportunities for local businesses and workers to benefit from their investments. He stressed the government's focus on creating an environment that attracts investment while ensuring that such investments contribute to job creation, support local businesses, and benefit the wider Ghanaian economy.
