Ghana’s Economy Sees Notable Improvement, Says Government Spokesman

Accra: Ghana's economy has experienced marked progress since President John Dramani Mahama took office, according to Mr. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Presidential Spokesman and Minister of State in-charge of Government Communications. Speaking at the inaugural Presidential Dialogue with the Private Sector in Accra, Mr. Ofosu emphasized that the administration has been actively implementing a range of policies since January 2025 to enhance the business climate. According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Ofosu noted that substantial groundwork has been laid, and the positive effects are becoming evident. He highlighted the improved business environment compared to the period before President Mahama's tenure. Mr. Ofosu stressed the importance of evaluating the impact of these policies to ensure they effectively address the needs of the business community. The Minister explained that the Dialogue is part of a broader initiative to engage with key segments of Ghanaian society. Following this engagement, the President plans to consult with organized labor and civil society members to refine policies for greater benefit. Mr. Ofosu emphasized the value of integrating diverse viewpoints to formulate effective policies. Additionally, Mr. Ofosu mentioned that President Mahama is committed to engaging directly with the people of Ghana. This approach includes regular briefings and regional and district accountability forums, where the President and government officials will provide direct updates to the public. The aim is to enhance government transparency and accountability. Mr. Ofosu concluded by encouraging the Private Sector to offer candid feedback during the Dialogue to foster a deeper understanding of the President's policies and their impact on the business community. The overarching goal is to improve government effectiveness and responsiveness.
