Accra: A Ghanaian international student at York St John University in the United Kingdom, Eunice Taveng, has publicly raised concerns over what she describes as severe bullying, humiliation, and harassment since moving to the UK.
According to Ghana Web, Taveng, who is currently pursuing an MBA, shared her concerns in a public statement on LinkedIn. Initially, she believed she was experiencing racism, but subsequent incidents involving her accommodation, belongings, and online accounts intensified her fears.
She alleged that her shoes' insoles were replaced with ones she did not recognize, and the contents of her perfume bottle were substituted with a different-smelling substance. Taveng also reported finding unfamiliar items on her bed, which led to severe itching after contact.
Further concerns were raised about unauthorized access to her Google account and unusual activities involving Google Maps. She also described experiences of being followed or stalked.
Taveng expressed her belief that some incidents with her belongings might be connected to rituals and spells, although she recognized that speaking about these beliefs might cause some to question her mental health, diverting attention from the issues she reported.
She alleged that these attempts aimed to portray her as mentally ill, discouraging investigation into the reported incidents. Taveng mentioned previous reports to the police and York St John University, with the latter assisting within its authority limits.
The student claimed to possess evidence, dates, and information on individuals potentially involved, ready to share privately with the authorities. Concerned about her safety, Taveng called for a review of her previous reports and evidence if further incidents occur.
Taveng urged relevant authorities and organizations to investigate the reported incidents, examine the evidence, establish facts, and provide assistance.
