Jos: A Ghanaian-Nigerian pastor, Hills Emmanuel, has been found dead after he was abducted by gunmen while traveling from Jos to Bokkos in Plateau State, Nigeria. The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting ongoing security concerns in the region.
According to Ghana Web, Pastor Emmanuel was abducted on Friday, August 28, 2026, alongside Pastor Gabriel Joseph Dipak of the Christ Apostolic Church. The two clerics were reportedly traveling from Jos to Bokkos when their vehicle was stopped by armed men along the Barkin Ladi-Bokkos road. Witnesses cited in the report indicated that the attackers mounted a roadblock less than a mile from military checkpoints located on both sides of the road.
The gunmen reportedly stopped a commercial minivan carrying nine passengers and dragged the two pastors out of the vehicle. They allegedly seized phones and cash belonging to the other passengers before releasing them. Police later recovered the stolen items at the scene, according to the report. Emmanuel's body was found early Saturday morning, August 29, 2026, near the location where the two pastors had been abducted.
The deceased, who was based in Plateau State, was the founder of The Wonderful Grace of God Evangelical Ministry in Bokkos and a former pastor with Dunamis Church. Meanwhile, the whereabouts of Pastor Dipak remain unknown, although the abductors had reportedly contacted his family.
The killing of Pastor Emmanuel was among several attacks reportedly recorded across Plateau State on August 28, 2026. According to SaharaReporters, four other attacks occurred around 9 pm in communities located between 10 and 20 miles from the site of the pastors' abduction, leaving three people dead and at least one person injured.
