Accra: Ghanaian singer and songwriter Rcee has unveiled that his venture into the music industry was not a premeditated decision, but rather a result of peer pressure. Speaking during an interview on Hitz FM on April 20, 2026, Rcee shared that although he had a natural talent for music during his formative years, a career in music was never part of his original plan.
According to Ghana Web, Rcee’s initial passion was football, which he almost pursued professionally before eventually transitioning into music. He recounted, ‘If you asked me what I would do some years ago, I would say football. I was really into football, and I almost went professional, but music chose me.’
Rcee touched upon the common perception that physical appearance is a significant factor in football talent, emphasizing that skill is more important than body type. ‘I don’t have the legs for football; some people think that when your legs are carved in a way, it means you can play very well. My legs are tiny, but I’m very skillful,’ he remarked. Despite having the ability to sing during his high school years, pursuing a music career was not on his agenda at that time.
The singer revealed that his foray into music and performing was largely influenced by his friends, who were already involved in rap. ‘I started music out of peer pressure. To be a performer was out of peer pressure. My boys were rapping, and I decided to rap some,’ he explained.
Rcee elaborated on how his friends encouraged him to try performing, which ignited his passion for music. ‘I felt like I could do it, and one day, they pulled me on stage, and I did. From there, I loved every bit of it,’ he added.
