Ghana News Agency regional manager loses father

Piina (U/W)- The death is reported of Mr Vincent Ivan Angbing, an educationist and former District Chief Executive(DCE) for the Jirapa -Lambussie District in the Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings administration.

Mr Angbing, who is also a member of the Knight of St.John’s International of the Catholic Church, died at the St Theresa Hospital at Nandom on July 17 after a short illness.

The late Mr Angbing is the father of Mrs Justina Paaga, the Western Regional Manager of the Ghana News Agency in Takoradi.

Mr Angbing began his academic career from the St Paul Primary School in Nandom, attended St John Bosco Training College in the Upper East Region and later wrote private O’ level and Advance level and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Ghana, Legon.

He was also a student of the Kwame Nkrumah Ideological Institute at Winneba.

He later taught at the Nandom Secondary School for 18 years and rose through the ranks to become the Senior House Master for many years.

He later became the District Director of Education for Jirapa Lambussie District until he retired in 1996.

Mr Angbing was instrumental in the establishment of the Kanguol Primary School and Piina Secondary School both in the Lambussie/Kani District and was honoured for his developmental drive in the Region.

He then served as the District Chief Executive (DCE) in the Jerry Rawlings administration between 1996 and 1998.

The final funeral rites of the late Mr Angbing would be held in October 26 through to October 28, at Kanguol, his hometown, in the Lambussie/Kani District of the Upper West Region.

He was 82 years and is survived by a wife, Mrs Rebecca Angbing and five children.
