Accra: The Ghana Medical Trust Fund, known as Mahama Cares, is officially operational, according to a statement from Mr. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Presidential Spokesman and Minister of State in-charge of Government Communications. The initiative aims to alleviate the financial burden on individuals suffering from non-communicable diseases by covering the high costs of treatment. Additionally, the fund is investing in critical infrastructure to enhance medical treatment capabilities.
According to Ghana News Agency, one of the primary projects under Mahama Cares is the construction of state-of-the-art cardiology centers at three teaching hospitals: Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, and Tamale Teaching Hospital. These centers are set to be fully equipped with modern catheterization laboratories, operating theatres, intensive care units, consulting rooms, pharmacies, and dedicated oxygen plants.
The statement highlighted that the design of these centers is featured in the initial image, while subsequent images depict the progress made in the construction so far. These developments are expected to significantly improve healthcare delivery for patients with cardiovascular conditions across the nation.
