Ghana Health Service Recognizes Outstanding Health Professionals and Facilities in Bolgatanga

Bolgatanga: The Management of the Ghana Health Service (GHS) in the Bolgatanga Municipality has awarded 15 health professionals, nine facilities, and three sub-municipal zones for their contributions to healthcare delivery.

According to Ghana News Agency, the staff, including nurses, midwives, laboratory technicians, and disease control officers, were selected from various public healthcare facilities across the municipality. The awardees included individuals such as Madam Martha Tsi-bo Yeboah, Mr Dawda Sadique, and Mr Albert Mumuni, among others. Each received citations of honour during the 2024 annual health performance review meeting of the Bolgatanga Municipal Health Directorate. The event was themed ‘Networks of practice, our sure bet to achieving Universal Health Coverage’ and was attended by officials from the Regional Health Directorate, Medical Officers, and District Directors of the GHS, alongside senior staff from public and private health facilities in the municipality.

In addition to the staff,
the management recognized the contributions of the Dagweo, Tindonmolgo, and Bukere Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds, as well as the Coronation, Sherigu, and Sokabisi Health Centres. The Bolgatanga North, Plaza, and Kalbeo sub-municipal zones were also acknowledged for their roles in healthcare delivery.

Mr Stephen Bordotsiah, the Municipal Director of the GHS, expressed appreciation to the staff for their efforts in the healthcare delivery system. He noted their passion for work and high ethics, highlighting their professionalism, sacrifice, and dedication. He emphasized the importance of their hard work and selflessness, encouraging the awardees to continue their efforts towards achieving Universal Health Coverage.

Mr Bordotsiah explained that the selection of awardees involved a panel that conducted interviews and selected individuals based on transparent and rigorous processes. He acknowledged the significance of all staff efforts in the municipality, which have contributed t
o improved service delivery over the years.

Some awardees expressed their gratitude to the management for recognizing their efforts and commended their colleagues for the collaborative efforts and teamwork that have led to their achievements.
