Ghana Gas to Launch Greenhouse Vegetable Initiative in Ellembelle

Ellembelle:The Ghana National Gas Company, led by CEO Judith Adjobah Blay, is set to launch a Greenhouse Vegetable Initiative in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region. This initiative aims to generate employment and sustainable livelihoods for the local youth.

According to Ghana Web, the project will occupy one acre of land and involve the establishment of a modern greenhouse facility. It will also include the formation of a cooperative of young men and women who will run it as a business. The company plans to provide the necessary facilities, logistics, and funding to train these individuals as mechanised farmers and entrepreneurs.

Adjobah Blay, speaking at the launch of the Eco-Brigade beach-cleaning programme in Sanzule, highlighted the potential of the initiative to provide livelihoods and entrepreneurial opportunities. Ghana Gas intends to closely monitor the project to ensure its benefits reach the intended beneficiaries and their communities.

Additionally, Adjobah Blay urged residents to support Ghana Gas in sustaining its operations and delivering more development projects and livelihood interventions in Ellembelle. The Greenhouse Vegetable Initiative is part of a broader range of programmes, including the 250-member Eco-Brigade responsible for beach cleaning and the GACOL soap-making programme for women. Plans are also underway for a factory to support the soap-making initiative and ensure a market for the products.

Local residents have expressed gratitude for these initiatives and urged the company to accelerate the implementation of the planned projects in their communities.
