Accra:A new partnership between Ghana and Canada is paving the way for the next generation of political leaders. NPP Loyal Ladies (NPP LL) and the Young Politicians of Canada (YPC) have joined forces to link emerging leaders from both countries through initiatives in leadership development, mentorship, and networking.
According to Ghana Web, this collaboration emphasizes providing young people, particularly women, with access to international platforms that can significantly influence their leadership journeys. The initiative signifies a commitment to empowering young leaders to actively participate in political and public service roles today, rather than waiting for the future.
The Ghana-Canada exchange will facilitate the sharing of experiences related to political participation, public service, leadership, and the various challenges confronting young people in politics. This exchange aims to be mutually beneficial, highlighting not only what Ghana can learn from Canada but also what Canada can learn from Ghana.
The partnership's inaugural event, the Ghana-Canada Young Political Leaders Dialogue, is set for November 4, 2026. This 90-minute virtual pilot will convene selected emerging political leaders from both nations to discuss youth participation, leadership, young women in politics, and international political networks.
The dialogue marks only the beginning of this partnership, which is anticipated to expand into mentorship opportunities, ongoing virtual engagements, in-person dialogues, and reciprocal visits between the two countries. At a time when many young people feel alienated from politics, this initiative seeks to create significant engagement opportunities by providing mentors, networks, skills, and a seat at the table.
NPP Loyal Ladies view this initiative as a step towards positioning its members, especially the younger generation, for national and global leadership roles, opening up broader possibilities through global connections.
