Prampram: The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced its commitment to allocate US$200,000 over the next four years to support the healthcare needs of former national team players. This significant initiative was revealed by GFA President Kurt Okraku during the Association's 32nd Ordinary Congress held at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.
According to Ghana Web, the initiative will see an annual allocation of US$50,000 through the GFA Foundation. Okraku emphasized that this effort is aimed at providing assistance to former national team players who are currently dealing with various medical conditions. He stated, "A new GFA Foundation Player Welfare Initiative, under which the FA will commit US$50,000 annually over the next four years to support the healthcare needs of our former national team players who are battling various medical conditions."
The Player Welfare Initiative is part of the GFA Foundation's broader mission to extend support to former players who have represented Ghana at the international level. The programme is structured to span four years, with the annual funds specifically directed towards addressing the healthcare needs of former national team players facing medical challenges.
The announcement was made in the presence of football stakeholders who gathered for the GFA's 32nd Ordinary Congress. The congress served as a platform to review the past season and discuss the development and administration of Ghana football in preparation for the upcoming season.
