Accra: Four Ghanaian soldiers serving with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon have been injured following a missile attack on the headquarters of the Ghanaian Battalion in southern Lebanon. Three of the soldiers sustained minor injuries while one was critically wounded.
According to Ghana News Agency, a statement issued by the Department of Public Relations of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) in Accra and signed by Naval Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, Acting Director of Public Relations, confirmed the incident. It was reported that the critically injured soldier had successfully undergone surgery and was responding to treatment. All the injured personnel are currently in stable condition.
The statement further indicated that the incident resulted in the destruction of accommodation facilities for 14 officers, with their quarters completely burnt down during the attack. The affected officers have since been re-kitted, re-accommodated, and provided with necessary support. Despite the incident, the statement noted that the Battalion remained in high spirits and morale among the troops continued to be high.
