Accra: President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema of Gabon on Thursday paid tribute to former President Jerry John Rawlings during a wreath-laying ceremony at his tomb at the Military Cemetery at Tse Addo in Accra.
According to Ghana News Agency, President Nguema described the late former President Rawlings as a distinguished African statesman, patriot, and champion of justice whose leadership and ideals continue to inspire generations across the continent.
Present at the ceremony were some of the children of the late former President, namely Mr. Kimathi Agyeman-Rawlings, Madam Amina Agyeman-Rawlings, and Madam Yaa Asantewaa Agyeman-Rawlings.
President Nguema is in Ghana on a three-day state visit at the invitation of President John Dramani Mahama.
