Tema: Alhaji Adamu N.S. Dassana, a former District Chief Executive of the Wa West District, has donated assorted items to support both the Muslim and Christian communities in the area, observing Ramadan and Lent.
According to Ghana News Agency, the items, which included 60 bags of sugar and cartons of milk, were to be distributed to the members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) observing Ramadan and Lent, and some traditional and religious leaders across all 17 zones of the constituency.
Speaking at a brief ceremony at Wechiau to present the items, Alhaji Dasaana, who was also the Upper West Regional Coordinator of the Free Senior High School Programme, emphasized that the gesture was aimed at mitigating the challenges people might face while observing the holy sacraments.
He explained that the donation was a demonstration of his support for the NDC party and the people of the constituency, providing relief to those observing fasting by easing the demand for essential items required during this period.
Alhaji Dasaana urged the leadership of the NDC party in the constituency to ensure fair distribution of the items to prevent any dissatisfaction within the party due to the donation.
He emphasized that fasting seasons are times for love, unity, and peaceful coexistence, which motivated his donation to promote peace and unity among the people.
He also expressed hopes for unity and cooperation within the NDC party and among the constituency's residents, highlighting the connection between peace and development.
Mr. Matthew Vaare, the Wa West Constituency Chairman of the NDC, expressed gratitude to Mr. Dasaana for his generosity, noting that the donation would aid residents in observing Ramadan and Lent and alleviate his responsibilities as a party leader in providing such support.
Mr. Vaare mentioned receiving requests for sugar from some constituents and expressed relief that the donation would allow everyone to receive what they needed, reducing his concerns about meeting these requests.
He acknowledged that if more individuals like Alhaji Dasaana were present in the Wa West constituency, the area would have seen significant development. He assured constituents that the items would be distributed to the intended recipients to ensure a successful fasting season and continued peace in the constituency.
