Accra:Florence Obinim, a Ghanaian gospel musician, has filed for divorce from her husband, Bishop Daniel Obinim, founder of the International God's Way Church. Her lawyer, Kusi Appiah, has disclosed the reasons behind the divorce proceedings.
According to Ghana Web, Florence is seeking to end her 24-year marriage due to allegations of infidelity by Bishop Obinim. She claims that the preacher has been unfaithful with several women, some of whom have allegedly mocked and insulted her. Appiah stated that Florence has endured the situation for an extended period but now feels it has exceeded her limit.
Another reason cited for the divorce is the lack of privacy in their marriage. Bishop Obinim is accused of publicly discussing private marital issues in the church auditorium, despite Florence's repeated requests for discretion. Appiah mentioned that there is a third, undisclosed reason for the divorce.
Florence's divorce demands include significant financial compensation and properties. She is reportedly asking for GHS2 million in damages, a mansion at Trassaco Valley in East Legon, another mansion in Barcelona, Spain, a 21-unit block of shops in Tema, Abroso Guest House in Accra, and a multi-storey property with residential, guest-house, and church facilities.
