Finance Minister Outlines Vision for Ghana’s Economic Transformation

Accra:Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has announced that the nation's economic recovery should lead to the creation of decent jobs, higher incomes, and a stronger productive economy. Speaking to faculty and students at the University of Ghana, Dr. Forson emphasized that stabilization was not the ultimate goal of the government's reforms, but rather a stepping stone towards greater economic achievements.

According to Ghana Web, Dr. Forson highlighted the progress made in restoring economic confidence, such as reduced inflation and managed debt pressures, but noted that recovery alone was insufficient to fulfill the country's ambitions. He stated that the next step involves building on these gains by expanding production, attracting investment, and creating opportunities that improve livelihoods.

Dr. Forson articulated a vision of a Ghana that produces more of what it consumes and adds value to its agricultural and mineral resources, creating decent jobs at scale. He also emphasized the importance of public investment supporting private enterprise to foster business expansion and employment for Ghanaians.

He concluded by stressing that the New Economy aims to ensure that the benefits of economic recovery reach the people who made sacrifices for stabilization, ultimately transforming these efforts into tangible benefits for the Ghanaian populace.
